Large Antique Chinese Famille Verte Porcelain Statue of standing holding bamboo stick
Large Antique Chinese Famille Verte Porcelain Statue of standing holding bamboo stick
Description
A nice large antique Chinese porcelain figure dating to the 19th century. The statue depicts a man in a standing position wearing a green robe with a floral pattern, and holding a bamboo stick in his left hand. He also wears a small hat. The right hand is removable, and has a hole for it to be removed, or inserted back.
The figure may also be called a famille verte figure, as it mostly has a green pattern.
Condition
The figure is in good condition considering its age. There a firing flaw on the figure's right foot, and a minute chip on his head near the hat. The removable right hand has lost all its finger tips, and some of the object it was holding. However, it is rare for figures of this type to still have this removable hand, as I have seen many which no longer have them. Someone in past had also tried to glue the right hand to the socket, and the glue stain can still be seen there.
Dimensions
The figure measures approximately 35 cm (or 13.75 inches) high.
The figures weighs 1268 grams, so very heavy for its size.
As you can see from the picture, it is an impressive figure.
