Item Description

A nice and interesting Japanese woodblock print on paper of three samurais or noblemen in a domestic scene, possibly on a roof of a building.

The print is possibly by Hishikawa Moronobu (1618-1694), the so-called founder of the ukiyo-e school.

This print maybe a page from an illustrated book by Moronobu, and possibly dates from the 1680s.

The image is unframed.  There are creases and staining on parts of the print which may be commensurate with age.  The image is attached to a cardboard type frame, which is wrapped by cellophane.

Dimensions

The vase measures approximately 22.5 cm (or 9 inches) long by 16 cm (or 6.25 inches) wide.
