Offered for sale are these pair of beautiful Kangxi (1661-1722) Famille Verte pie crust deep porcelain plates.
The centre of each plate portrays a pair of ladies at leisure in a garden setting in front of a pyramid fence, by a table with many scholar items, including a jardinere of bonsai and vases. There is also a flowering magnolia tree.
The top cavettos are painted with cartouches of gamboling lion dogs with a wheel, and cartouches of scholars items in a border of foliage and flowers.
The backs are painted with flowering tendrils of peonies and the base a double circle.
Each plate measures approximately 24 cm (nearly 9.5 inches) in diameter
These plates are generally in good condition considering their age. The first plate has some light wear ande minor retouching to six enamel plates. The second plate has some light wear and rubbing and restoration to a small chip on the reverse of the plate, which is hardly noticeable except under very close examination and strong light.
